This year marks the 20th anniversary of Shooting People, one of the UK’s most established independent filmmaker networks. To celebrate, they’ve launched SHORT CUTS, a year long quarterly film competition and event series, in partnership with Rich Mix.
The latest SHORT CUTS event will feature a film screening, networking and a Q&A with the brilliant award-winning actor, writer and director, Alice Lowe.
Alice is perhaps best known for shooting her directorial debut Prevenge, which she shot whilst seven months pregnant. The film won her an award for Best Actress at the National Film Awards, as well as a BIFA nomination for Best Directorial Debut. She also co-wrote and co-starred in the award-winning Sightseers, directed by Ben Wheatley.
Alice started out as an actor in TV comedy, appearing in Little Britain, The Mighty Boosh and the Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace. She has also appeared in numerous British films including Hot Fuzz, Paddington, Adult Life Skills and Black Mountain Poets.
