about the film

Director Ridley Scott (Gladiator, American Gangster, The Martian) retells the story of the kidnapping of 16-year-old John Paul Getty III (Charlie Plummer), and the desperate attempt by his devoted mother Gail (Michelle Williams) to convince his billionaire grandfather (Christopher Plummer) to pay the ransom.

When Getty Sr. refuses to help, Gail forms an unlikely alliance with Getty’s advisor (Mark Wahlberg). Together, they race against time to save her son and prove that love has more value than money.
