At Rich Mix, we believe every child has a story worth telling.
Our schools programme brings film education to the classrooms of East London – building creativity, confidence and critical thinking in children whose stories deserve to be celebrated.
Film is at the heart of everything we do in schools. It's a powerful, accessible tool for learning. One that develops creativity, critical thinking, communication and confidence, while giving children the space to explore the stories, histories and communities that shape their world.
From scriptwriting and filmmaking workshops, After School Clubs to film screenings at Rich Mix, we create experiences that go far beyond the curriculum and stay with children long after the credits roll.
By reinterpreting the curriculum through creative expression, pupils deepened their understanding in a more personal and accessible way. The act of transforming curriculum content into stories, scripts, and ultimately films required them to engage critically and imaginatively with the material.
Our impact doesn't stop with pupils. We invest in teachers too, through CPD workshops and professional networking that equip educators to embed diverse, culturally relevant storytelling across their teaching for the long term.
Rooted in the richness and diversity of East London, our programmes directly address educational inequality and support schools to decolonise the curriculum, celebrating the global majority stories that reflect the communities we serve. We reach children at a critical stage of development, building the skills, confidence and sense of identity.
We don't just deliver workshops. We create platforms - ensuring every child's work is seen, shared and celebrated.
My favourite part of the workshop was when we were doing the free write because I could expand my imagination and write down what I think with no rights or wrongs.
