About Barbatuquices: an interactive body music performance for families
Don't miss this interactive event for families with musical games and more.
This interactive experience welcomes parents, children, educators, and people of all ages to discover different body sounds like clapping, snapping, mouth sounds, or footbeats. Participants then create music and have fun with acclaimed group Barbatuques.
Barbatuques is a pioneering São Paulo-based Brazilian percussion group known for creating music solely with the human body and voice – blending traditional Brazilian rhythms with contemporary styles such as beatboxing and electronic music.
Founded by the multi-instrumentalist and composer Fernando Barba, gaining global recognition through performances in over 30 countries, with events including the Rio Olympics Closing Ceremony in 2016, educational workshops, and soundtrack contributions (including for the Rio 2 movie). They are celebrated for their innovative, collective approach to sound, making body music a recognised art form and educational tool worldwide.
