Come join us and our neighbours on Redchurch Street at Street Fest this summer.

The street will be closed from traffic for a long weekend, taking the onus off shopping and bringing the street back to its routes of grassroots creativity by celebrating local artists, creatives and changemakers!

Street Fest offers something for all tastes: There will be an open-air ping pong tournament, art trail and street musicians; restaurants and bars will be extending their al fresco offering with food stands and temporary pop up bars; exciting giveaways from stores; and Sweaty Betty will even be holding an outdoor workout class at the Shuffle Club on Ebor Street.

No need to book, just come along to Redchurch Street, E2 7DD.

Rich Mix Community Mural Stalls @ Street Fest

We’ll be hosting a couple of stalls for our Community Mural, encouraging locals and passers-by to get creative! Come join us, grab a pen, take a picture with us and tell us your story!

This summer we’re working with Paint the Change, Tower Hamlets Local History Library and Archives plus community partners to create a massive giant community mural on the front of our building. We want to celebrate and welcome back our local communities as we come out of lockdown, by encouraging them to get creative and engage with our local area. The theme is a celebration of identity, and we want as many people as possible to be part of it!

Rich Mix x onRedchurch Art Trail @ Street Fest

Check out the art trail we’ve put together with On Redchurch Street!

The Art Trail runs all weekend in shops and stops all along the trail. Starting at Sweaty Betty (Shoreditch High Street End) and it weaves and wiggles its way down the street via lots of the treats the festival has to offer: Festival hair styling, pop up bands, ice cream sandwiches, open air ping-pong and more!  The walk finishes at up in our building at our very own Illuminate exhibition on our Mezz Gallery.

Artwork will be by:

Olivia Fraser, Tom Casey, Bettina Etienne, Ellie Stanton, Babak Genjei, Divine Southgate-Smith, Eve de Haan and Martin Richman x Rich Mix.

See the Art Trail map below, or download a PDF via our “Downloads” black box. You can also pick up a map in Rich Mix foyer or at any of the shops along Redchurch Street.

Street Fest has been curated by OnRedchurch Street which is partnership organisation between residents, landlords and local businesses.

Paint the Change is a global street art project for social justice. We believe that public art can play a powerful role in stimulating discussions around urgent social issues. A mural is not just a work of art: it becomes a social and digital event and a focus for dialogue and progress.

Halima Khanom is the Heritage Officer, Learning and Participation at the Tower Hamlets Local History Library and Archives. She has over 10 years of experience and is interested in using heritage as a way of engaging socially isolated and marginalized groups with place,  particularly their own locale.
