Our live events programme

Rich Mix is committed to providing Culture for a Changing City. This means we are particularly excited by events that:

  • directly relate to/are rooted within our home of East London and the borough of Tower Hamlets
  • are relevant, timely or say something about the city or world we are living in today
  • platform voices that are often underrepresented in the arts
  • bring diverse or intersectional communities together

We programme all artforms – music, theatre, dance, spoken word, comedy, cabaret, visual arts, talks, workshops and more!

Our live programme represents the voices of the diverse artists and creatives behind each event – we are primarily a host venue, rather than a producer.

We programme a mixture of regular partners who we already have relationships with, and new partners who come to us by word of mouth or through our artistic proposal form. We are committed to supporting artists and creatives at any stage of their career; some of our partners have put on hundreds of events before and some stage their very first event with us.

We are open to everyone, and work hard to reflect and cater to diverse communities in our programme. Due to this, we inevitably host events that have differences in opinion or perspective. We are open to debate and want our spaces to allow for creative and meaningful exchanges.

We are an ambitious but small team that programmes 300 events per year, many of which are one-offs. We rarely have the means to support an event or artist financially, but we do provide subsidised rehearsal space (300+ hours in 2022), ad-hoc artist development programmes and are always open for a conversation about ideas and projects. We pride ourselves on the care and support our team give those within our programme – from idea to realisation.
