Please note: the advertised time for this event is the doors time. The film will begin promptly at 6.45pm.

INQUEST is the only charity supporting families bereaved by deaths at the hands of the police – in prisons, mental health settings and mass fatalities including the Hillsborough disaster and Grenfell Tower Fire. The film exposes 40 years of state violence and resistance in England and Wales through the voices of those at the heart of these struggles: bereaved families, INQUEST staff, campaigners, lawyers and journalists.

The UK is Not Innocent is directed by Richard York and Hannan Majid of Rainbow Collective, and produced by Jessica Pandian and Naomi Oppenheim. The film features Benjamin Zephaniah’s last recorded poem. Benjamin was an INQUEST patron for over 20 years, and the team are honoured to showcase this poem.

This screening will be followed by a Q&A with Lee Lawrence, son of Cherry Groce and longstanding advocate for justice and others.

The INQUEST shop will be open, so get your t-shirts, tote bags and badges including our special edition merch in collaboration with Black Lodge Press!

INQUEST is independent of government and entirely reliant on grants and donations to continue our vital work. Help us support bereaved families by becoming a regular donor using this link.
