This exhibition is a celebration of the work created by London Borough of Tower Hamlets, and London Borough of Hackney Primary Schools participating in our Flagship Film Education Programme – Flip The Script.

Flip The Script (previously known as Pic ‘n’ Mix) is a year-long primary school programme focusing on diversifying the curriculum and developing visual literacy through film and media skills. It provides schools with a FREE programme of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Teachers, Film Education screenings, In-school workshop sessions with artists and filmmakers, after school film clubs at Rich Mix, Rich Mix Takeover Days and a Film Festival showcasing the films made by the schools.

Through poetry, performance and storytelling, pupils will explore how their own personal narratives link to those of different places and times, and how our collective histories impact the world we live in today. Using film and movie-making techniques to engage with their own personal and communal stories, pupils will reflect on how (and if) they see themselves in their given topics, culminating in the creation of their own short film.

Throughout the exhibition you will see a series of pictures and quotes from our wonderful participants over the years – you can watch this year’s films set amongst the backdrop of some the scenes you can see unfold; and share some of your favourite untold stories. We do hope you enjoy!

Join us on Tue 9 Jul at 3.30pm for a private viewing of the exhibition, open to all teachers and teaching staff from the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and Hackney. Please email helen.baldwin@richmix.org.uk to book your place.
