Since 1993, Congo Natty has been at the forefront of the Jungle and Drum n Bass scene, recently releasing the iconic album Ancestorz, featuring artists like Akala, Eva Lazarus, Amrit Kaur, Klashnekoff and Logic.
This event will feature UK-based support acts, including:
Amy True: A UK-based rapper and singer with Irish and Ugandan roots, hailing from the hip-hop, soul, and jazz scene. She was a member of Benjamin Zephaniah‘s band, The Revolutionary Minds, and has opened for Public Enemy. Amy has also worked with Nubia Garcia, Joe Armon Jones (Ezra Collective), Shabaka Hutchings, and Rodney P.
Amrit Kaur: A UK-based artist with South Asian Panjabi roots, Amrit is a singer-songwriter and Sarangi player known for her work in R&B, soul, and Panjabi folk. She featured with The Marley Family in 2020 on the new version of ‘One Love’ for UNICEF, which garnered over 2.6 million streams. Amrit has also collaborated with Congo Natty and has been praised as an exceptional talent by legendary producer and Def Jam co-founder Rick Rubin.
Behind The Mask: A 7-piece brass hip-hop Jungle South Asian band covering world music. Their new album, Behind The Mask, produced by Asia Minor, is set to be released in late May 2024. The band features Niya Love from Mumbai, Shaikhspeare from Mumbai, and the legendary 5:55 from Nepal. They received BBC Asian Network’s Track of the Week for ‘Bombay to London’ featuring Shaikhspeare in 2020, played by Bobby Friction. Behind The Mask toured Asia and the UK in 2023 and performed at the Wilderness Festival that same year.
Additional performances by DJ Solomon and DJ Nishanti from Brixton Radio will also be featured.
