Azra (Amrit Kaur, Sex Lives of College Girls) flies back to her ancestral home in Pakistan to reunite with her grieving mother Mariam (Nimra Bucha, Polite Society), with whom she has a strained relationship. While struggling to fit the image of the perfect daughter, Azra finds herself transported, through Bollywood-inspired flashbacks, to 1960s Karachi. Her journey through familial memory sparks a connection between her mother’s wild youth and her own life in 1990s Canada.
Developed from Mirza’s 2012 short of the same name, The Queen of My Dreams explores the rifts between individual desires and cultural expectations.
