A Season of Bangla Drama returns from 1 – 24 November and the theme for 2024 is ‘hope’, at a time when the festival ‘comes of age’ in its 21st year, during an age of tumult and uncertainty.
This acclaimed Bangladeshi theatre festival champions new writing and showcases 16 plays which capture the concerns of the moment, both in east London and on a more global scale.
Sub-themes such as climate and the corruption of power are balanced by more positive depictions of the human connection and a celebration of iconic cultural figures. The youth element provides a balance, and music, dance and movement provide a multi-dimensional sensory experience!
The festival also incorporates a fringe programme of events including exhibitions, workshops, talks and walks. There will be something for everyone to enjoy.
