Section 2: Dabke Workshops with Tarweedeh Dabke Collective

Tarweedeh Dabke Collective is led by Palestinian dabke dancers and includes the performance group Nabad. Whether you’re embarking on your first dabke steps, want to develop your freestyle, or explore choreographed dances, join us for these one-off workshops as a taste of what’s to come with Tarweedeh Dabke Collective!

2.1 Beginner Dabke Class
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:25 PM
This class is designed for those new to dabke, focusing on foundational steps, rhythm, and basic formations. Participants will learn the cultural significance of the dance and go home knowing basic steps to be able to participate in dabke at weddings, protests, on the streets, and beyond!

2.2 Intermediate Dabke Class
Time: 4:35 PM – 6:00 PM
For those with some previous experience dancing dabke, this class will delve deeper into more complex steps, intricate footwork, and freestyle. We’ll explore choreography, traditional variations, and develop personal style while maintaining authentic cultural elements.

 

All proceeds from this event will go to the charities supported by the Viva Viva Palestina exhibition.
