Kicking off the Spring we welcome Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd back to our screens with A24’s very own Death of a Unicorn.

This horror-comedy centres around a father and daughter who accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat. The father’s billionaire boss then seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties, much to the dismay of the unicorn’s family, leading to murderous results.

Delivering on its promise to be a gnarly, funny, creature-feature, and with all the unicorn-themed gore you can imagine. If you are after something different from The Minecraft Movie this weekend, make sure to check this one out – screening here from Fri 4 Apr. Get a taste of the chaos with the trailer for Death of a Unicorn!

Sinners‘ Image courtesy of Warner Bros.

From Fri 18 Apr we welcome in two hotly anticipated new releases:

First up, Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan team up again for supernatural horror film Sinners.

Set in the 1930’s Southern United States, Michael B. Jordan plays a dual role as twin brothers Smoke and Stack who return to their hometown to leave their troubled past behind – only to discover that there is a greater evil that is waiting for them. Ryan Coogler’s early breakthrough Fruitvale Station and subsequent turn to blockbusters with the Creed and Black Panther films have propelled him be one of the most prominent contemporary Black American filmmakers, and his newest cinematic outing solidifies his place further. Check out the thrilling trailer for Sinners.

Warfare‘ Image courtesy of A24.

Next up, Alex Garland follows up the piercing Civil War with Warfare, created in collaboration with Navy SEAL turned filmmaker Ray Rodriguez.

Produced by A24, and featuring an ensemble of Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn, Cosmo Jarvis and Charles Melton (in his first role since May, December), Warfare is based upon Mendoza’s experiences during the Iraq War. The film follows, in real-time, a platoon of SEALs as through insurgent territory in 2006. The result is a sensory blitz: a percussive nightmare that is best reserved for the big screen. Or, as Collider Magazine puts it: ‘one of the best films of 2025 so far, successfully capturing the grim, brutal, and unpredictable nature of warfare that only a handful of feature films truly have’.

Check out The A.V Club’s adoring review, and well as the powerful trailer for Warfare.

Extremely Unique Dynamic‘ Image courtesy of Queer East.

Last but not least, from Mon 28 Apr to Sun 18 May, we welcome back Queer East for another exciting year.

Queer East is a cross-disciplinary festival that showcases boundary-pushing LGBTQ+ cinema, live arts, and moving image work from East and Southeast Asia and its diaspora communities. Highlights include the UK premiere of Extremely Unique Dynamic on Mon 28 Apr, which explores the intricacies of male friendship through the unique dynamic between an Asian-American straight and gay best friend. Plus, don’t miss the rarely screened 1980s taboo-busting Taiwanese drama Unmarried Mothers screening on Fri 2 May.
