This film follows the coming of age of a young woman, Radha, in 1980s’ middle-class India. Surrounded by books and music, Radha has little contact with Sundar, a boy who helps her life of privilege. Sundar runs away one day, and when she meets him years later, Radha considers that he may be more free than she is. In her 30s now, in modern India, served again – this time by Umesh, Radha thinks of Sundar and seeks him out.

The Umesh Chronicles is the story of India as not seen before.

This screening is preceded by an intro and followed by a Q&A with director Pooja Kaul.
