Set in the sprawling Kazakh metropolis of Almaty, this blood-pumping thriller follows Azamat (Ayan Utepbergen) and Tansholpan (Dilnaz Kurmangali), a young couple who are recently married and terribly broke. When violent debt collectors knock on their door, the two hatch up a plan with dangerous consequences: to fake Tansholpan’s terminal cancer to rack up donations. When the scam goes viral, the two find themselves embroiled in a dangerous web of lies that gives this fast-paced, stylish social satire about the throes of capitalism and the underbelly of social media a razor-sharp edge.
