Desire has been essential to both traditional and contemporary regimes of representation, insofar as it poses fundamental questions about the human condition and its relationship to universal themes of love and sexuality.
From tragedy to ecstasy, art moves us through sites of attraction, illusion and tension. Through drawing out the highly nuanced nature of love, we bear witness to the variegated landscape of its expressions or discontents.
In this discussion, three artists explore the presence of love and sexuality in human and non-human relationships, demonstrating that at its core, the production of desire begins first and foremost with a radical appreciation of Otherness.
