International Men’s Day, anyone? Yep, it’s a thing. Poetry collective The Yoniverse and Leo Kalyan have teamed up to reimagine masculinity through spoken word and music.
Listen to Leo Kalyan’s new EP The Edge, which takes the listener on a journey through topics such as queer masculinity and Qandeel Baloch. Between munching on samosas and chatting with Leo, there will also be the tongue-twisting, soul-soothing poetry of Shareefa Energy. Shareefa is a spoken word artist who has broken many stereotypes of South Asian & Muslim women and pushed the boundaries of female identity in her work. Joining Shareefa will be the gender-bending, barrier-breaking Kathak dancer, Raheem Mir, who specifically performs in roles traditionally reserved for women.
