A Creative Masterclass to explore existing content and create diverse Black women characters in literature, TV and films.
As part of the AYA MasterClass Visual Storytelling Series, Afro-feminist, historian and founder of an online literary platform, Pamela Ohene-Nyako, will discuss the ways in which Black women characters have been created and written in contemporary literature as well as in modern day TV shows and films.
The objective: to discuss and craft inclusive, complex, nuanced works of fiction by way of questioning our own ideas of representation and exposing experiences as women, men, creatives, creatives of color, but also as consumers of creative work.
The experimental nature of the MasterClass will enable people to share personal and professional experiences and to use these testimonies to turn the class into a screenwriting lab for the day!
