Follow Blue (Brinsley Forde), a young Black DJ who combats and escapes the systemic racism and police brutality present in Thatcher-era London through dub and reggae sound-system music.

The film offers a realistic and honest depiction of the racism and decline of late seventies Britain while also celebrating the role art, expression, and community has when combating systemic oppression.

After it’s debut at Cannes Film Festival, the film was banned in the US and heavily restricted in the UK due to fears it might ‘incite racial tension’.

This screening will be preceded by a talk from Matthew Johnson entitled: Babylon Never Fell: Race, Power and Policing in Britain’s Long Present.

Matthew is CEO of Race on the Agenda (ROTA), one of Britain’s leading anti-racist change drivers. He leads this organisation in working with communities impacted by systemic racism to influence policies, practices and narratives to tackle inequality. Matthew is a trained policy, research and leadership professional who has worked as Head of Research for organisations such as Runnymede Trust and Black Equity Organisation. He has a diverse and rich background in community organising, academia and policy influencing, working with universities, local and national government institutions. He has also worked internationally in research and policy in countries such as Namibia, Tanzania and Sierra Leone, supporting United Nations and NGO programmes.
