Shot over nine months, Frontiers of Dreams and Fears weaves together momentous events in the lives of two groups of Palestinian children – one in Beirut and one in Bethlehem – during the liberation of southern Lebanon from Israeli occupation.

Capturing the children’s exuberance and excitement as they live out ‘the best day of our life’, the film also gives a rare insight into the hope and imagination of a generation of young Palestinians, and the pain and loss felt by their elders.

This online screening will be followed by a presentation by writer and journalist Victoria Brittain, plus a discussion between director Mai Masri, Brittain and Birkbeck’s Marina Warner.

Presented by Bertha DocHouse and Birkbeck Institute of the Moving Image.
