Monte (Robert Pattinson) and his infant daughter are the only survivors on a prisoner ship caught in the inexorable pull of a black hole. The history of the ship is incrementally revealed as Monte relives the sadistic experimentation carried out by Dr. Dibs (Juliette Binoche) on him, Boyse (Mia Goth) and the other inmates.
The film features a hypnotically atmospheric soundtrack from Tindersticks frontman and long-time Claire Denis collaborator Stuart A. Staples.
