An adaptation of Stanisław Lem‘s novel The Magellanic Cloud, the film follows a crew on a deep space mission to locate life among the planets of Alpha Centauri. But their voyage is plagued by echoes of a violent past and malignant forces of unknown origin – which push the crew to the edge of sanity.
Zdenĕk Liška’s score triumphs as a perfect blend of earthly classical and unearthly electronic, a combination heard countless times in science fiction thereafter.
