Narrated by Isy Suttie (Peep Show, Pearl & Dave), the footage includes rare scenes of an Edwardian Petticoat Lane, a wedding in London’s East End in 1925, the defeat of the British Union of Fascists at Cable Street, Britain’s earliest surfing film, an interview with actor Maureen Lipman at the beginning of her career and many more surprising and tender moments in history captured on screen. Plus, a beautiful original soundtrack from Francesca Ter-Berg (Fran & Flora, Sam Lee).

Produced by JW3, this archive film tour has been made possible with support from the BFI, awarding funds from The National Lottery and the Shoresh Charitable Trust.

This screening is followed by a Q&A with Julia Wagner, Film curator and historian.
