In the wake of death and deteriorating sanity aboard a space station orbiting the planet Solaris, a psychologist is sent to investigate the cause. But when he begins to see visions of his deceased wife, he learns that Solaris may not be what it seems.
With recurring visits to a Bach melody, Eduard Artemiev’s mournful score reflects the familiar yet clouded narrative and provokes questions of humanity’s place among the stars.
This screening will include an introduction from season curator, Jack Williams, and a unique performance by renowned theremin virtuosa Lydia Kavina.
