Follow Chris Hesse, the personal cameraman to revolutionary leader Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of Ghana, who was deposed in a coup d’état in 1966.

Filled with joy, verve and a dedicated focus on the importance of self-representation, The Eyes of Ghana is a voyage through Ghanaian cinema and a portrait of the country, from cinema’s inception through to the present day. Hesse joins forces with filmmaker Anita Afonu to bring to audiences a Ghanaian perspective on their history – one that has been mostly hidden until now. A love letter to cinema and Ghanaian icon Chris Hesse, still working in his 90s to preserve film heritage and colonial lessons.

Followed by a panel discussion.
