Four practitioners working in the field of film – Maria Anastassiou, Sophia Satchell‑Baeza, Rehana Zaman and Hyun Jin Cho – will open the conversation with their own reflections before inviting a wider discussion.
Together, we’ll consider our children’s earliest encounters with film, how alternative or non-commercial works can be introduced within family settings, and what kinds of meaningful critique and creative processes can emerge in family programmes. We’ll also explore the possibilities that arise when we approach these works not only with affection, but with critical and political attention.
The event is intended for adults but children are welcome to join. Organised in tandem with Listen With Your Eyes, an ongoing series of screenings for children of all ages and their grown-up companions.
