Welcoming its new composer in residence, Olivia Murphy, NYJO presents a season of events which premier her own composition alongside works by esteemed guest artists and unexpected collaborators, in a collective reimagining of big band music.

In its 55 years, NYJO has helped launch the careers of many of the UK’s most-admired musicians. In this inaugural session, they welcome Josephine Davies, award-winning saxophonist, composer and former NYJO member, who will be leading the orchestra through her original music, arranged by Murphy for NYJO’s unique 24-piece ensemble.

Davies weaves melodic contours and textures into a rich tapestry of expressive contemporary harmony. Expect a daring programme played by the future stars of the UK jazz scene.
