This inclusive event is all about celebrating creativity and shining a light on the vital contributions of Deaf, Disabled, and neurodivergent playwrights.

 

Here’s what we have in store for Saturday:

10.00am – Doors Open
Arrive early for tea, coffee, and snacks. Settle in before we start at 11.00am.

11.00am – 11.15am – Welcome & Introduction
A warm welcome and a quick overview of the day ahead.

11.15am – 12.15pm – Panel: “Is Playwriting in Crisis?”
Chloe Vollenweider introduces Graeae’s legacy of new writing, highlighting how playwrights have navigated times of crisis, before opening up the conversation with Stephanie Bain (Head of Programming and Literary at Almeida Theatre) and other panellists for an insightful discussion.

12.15pm – 12.30pm – Break

12.30pm – 1.30pm – Short Plays Showcase
Three very distinct short plays, commissioned by Graeae:
• BIG DOG by Madeleine Farnhill
• HAUNTED MEAT by Jordon Grant
• MY NIGHT WITH EL** MU** by Jesse Stone
Directed by Jenny Sealey and Nickie Miles-Wildin.

1.30pm – 2.30pm – Lunch Break and network opportunities

2.30pm – 4.45pm – Rehearsed Reading: JINNITY
A full-length reading of Shahid Iqbal Khan’s latest play (Offies finalist & Olivier nominee), directed by Milli Bhatia.

4.45pm – 7.00pm – Networking & Drinks
