Film Review Competition

Over the past few years, we have welcomed thousands of excited primary school children to watch films in our cinemas for free as part of both Into Film Festival, and our Every Child A Cinema Goer initiative. We absolutely love chatting to the joyous, inquisitive and curious minds after they’ve visited us for a screening, and we want to hear more of your KS2 students thoughts!

This year, we shall be running two film review competitions around our Autumn Into Film Festival in November, and our Spring Into Film Festival in March. Film reviews are an excellent way to deepen students’ engagement in the film and sharpen skills such as critical analysis and thinking skills, as well as developing literacy skills.  

The competition is free to enter and will give your students the chance to win prizes to further engage with the cinema! 

Prizes  

1st Place Prize: 4 free cinema tickets to use at Rich Mix 

2x Runners Up: 2 free cinema tickets each! 

We will also be selecting a range of reviews to post on our Letterboxd account to share the wonderful reviews with film fans across the world! 

How to take part: 

  1. Use the downloadable planning sheet and film review template to help your students write and create their reviews.  
  2. Submit your reviews via the form below.  
  3. Each school may make one file upload of all their reviews they are submitting to the competition via the form below by the deadlines noted below.  
  4. Parents may submit for their child if they wish to take part in the competition and could not do so via their school and should also submit via the form by the same deadlines noted below. 
  5. We will announce three winners via blog post and direct contact.  

 

Autumn Term Deadlines  

Please have all your reviews submitted by Friday 12th December 2025. We shall get in touch with our winners directly in the week commencing Monday 12th January 2025.  

The form will reopen in the Spring term for the next Into Film Festival.

Spring Term Deadlines  

Please have all your reviews submitted by Friday 27th March 2026. We shall get in touch with our winners directly in the week commencing Monday 27th April 2026.
