Jawdance is an institution on the spoken word scene and a regular Rich Mix highlight. This year it celebrates its 10th anniversary with a programme of acclaimed feature acts, up-and-coming artists and its renowned open mic.

January’s Jawdance features a headline set from the legendary Roger Robinson, winner of the 2019 TS Eliot prize. He is supported by Amani Saeed, whose work has been described as strident and brave, and Great Northern Slam winner Richard Boggie. Hosted by the inimitable Yomi Sode.

February’s Jawdance features one of the world’s leading storytellers, Jan Blake. Blake’s generous telling of stories from Africa, the Caribbean and Arabia has earned her an international reputation as a dynamic, witty and exciting storyteller.

Please note: The number of £2 tickets available for each Jawdance event is limited. They have sold out for this month’s event.

How it works: Sign up on the night from 7 – 7.30pm to enter your name into the open mic draw. 10 slots, maximum 3 minutes each, selected at random. What have you got to lose?

The allure of Jawdance? There’s an abundance of energy, freshness and a chance to catch new voices.
