Violinist and composer Layale Chaker performs compositions from her debut album, ‘Inner Rhyme’. This album celebrates Arabic poetry, unveiling musical threads woven by the rhythmical cycles of the twelve classical Arabic poetic meters, the physical contour of the verse, and the percussive potential of words. Chaker’s composition aims to capture the shape and essence of epic testimonials on life, death, war and love that make the heart of Arabic poetry.

Layale has appeared as a soloist, performer, improviser and composer in concerts and recitals around the world. As a member of Daniel Barenboim’s West-Eastern Divan, she performs around the year in concert halls such as the Royal Albert Hall, Philharmonie de Paris and der Philharmonie Berlin among others. Her compositions include works for solo instrumentation, chamber music, symphony orchestra, string orchestra, electronics, as well as several pieces for dance and film.
