Part of Chinese Arts NowRed INK blends hip hop and contemporary dance as it tackles a complex political subject with exhilarating grace and clarity.

Inspired by the courageous lives and precarious experiences of Ai Weiwei and others, Red INK spotlights dissident artists and their struggles against the state.

Why should freedom of expression come with a price attached? Is exile or imprisonment any kind of a choice? And who gets to decide on a country’s ‘cultural values’ – and the truth?

On Thurs 24 Jan there will be an informal chat after the show with the artist Si Rawlinson about Red INK.

Chinese Arts Now is a festival that celebrates British-Chinese artists, and runs across London from 19 January to 2 February.
