A girl glides down Galaxy Walk to her grandmother’s home. The impact of patriarchy is unravelled. The unforgivable negligence of Grenfell and unsafe housing in Britain is exposed.

In these poems that are at once raw and vulnerable, Shareefa Energy explores hauntings of love, loss, and history as a working-class Indian woman raised in the diaspora. With a voice fortified and perceptive, these writings navigate the blunt cruelties of our existence, whilst refusing to forget how to marvel at the wonders on earth. Galaxy Walk restores our faith in what it means to be alive and human.

Expect live performances from Shareefa Energy alongside a live musician, Amrit Kaur Lohia and special guests.

The show will be followed by a Q&A and book signing.

Galaxy Walk is an important framing of the lives of an ignored community, Shareefa’s poems are brave and proud and demand to be known. We are better for having her voice present in British consciousness.
Caleb Femi, Poet

Shareefa’s poetry is a trumpet, a clarion call for the weak, the meek, the downtrodden, the oppressed, to pick up their arms and heal, to find ourselves and share it with the world, and most of all, to love, to love to love.
JJ Bola, Poet & Author

Shareefa is somebody I’ve seen perform many times and I’ve always been moved by the obvious passion in her delivery. Getting the chance to read her words from the page has given me a new insight into just how beautiful and intricate her wordplay is and i’ve been grateful for the opportunity. In numerology, the qualities of the name Shareefa are compassionate & idealistic, I think that Galaxy Walk proves that she is both of those things and so much more
Rodney P, Godfather of UK Hip Hop

Powerful truthful words straight from the heart. An important new voice wonderfully and widely engaged with the issues of our times
