Following on from multiple sold-out events at Tara Theatre, Arcola Theatre, Bush Theatre and a recent collaboration with Camden Friends of Palestine – White Kite Collective present a fundraising evening of music, monologues, comedy, poetry, and reflection in support of Sudan and the Sudanese people. Curated as a space for learning, healing and catharsis, these urgent firsthand accounts and testimonies are intended to galvanise attendees from awareness to action.

The war in Sudan has triggered political instability, a severe humanitarian emergency and widespread human rights violations. Fatalities have been estimated between 15,000 to 150,000 and there are over 9 million forcibly displaced people in Sudan – over 7 million internally and 2 million in neighbouring countries. Furthermore, around 18 million people are acutely food insecure and five million are facing starvation.

White Kite are delighted to be collaborating with Madaniya and London For Sudan for this event.

Madaniya are a collective that are reimagining and reclaiming a radical future for all Sudanese people from West Darfur to the Nuba mountains. A youthful spirit weaves through the fabric of Madaniya, to organise community and cultural spaces that empower Sudanese people, celebrate our culture and reimagine a liberated Sudan.

Madaniya works very closely with London For Sudan. London For Sudan is formed of Sudanese diaspora and allies that strive to amplify the voices of the Sudanese people and support the efforts for peace, justice and stability in Sudan. It was created in late 2023 as a response to the calls on social media to #KeepEyesOnSudan and #TalkAboutSudan. They aim to raise awareness on what’s happening in the country through protests, vigils, digital activism, and political advocacy.

This event is fundraising for the Sudan Benefit Fund, organised by the Sudanese Diaspora Network (SDN), a registered nonprofit organisation. SDN is a global hub to unify, mobilise and empower the youth to create a more sustainable Sudan.
