Exploring the possibilities of working across print and essay film, this workshop aims to create communal artistic experiences.
The artist will share insights into her practice, which brings together research, cinema, live elements and audience participation. She will discuss her use of books and shared reading within projects such as The Eagle and The Tortoise, Drinking Brecht, and Constantinopoliad, as well as in the work of artists ranging from Boal and Brecht to contemporary practitioners.
Participants will then take part in a workshop to explore connections between the essay film and the artist book before constructing a book of their own. Attendees will be introduced to a range of book structures that draw on dramaturgy, turning each object into a sculptural, interactive response to text.
All materials will be provided; however, participants are encouraged to bring any additional visual or written material that they wish to work with.
