The pandemic has brought about so much change and upheaval and all the uncertainty can create feelings of confusion and sadness. How can we adapt to these changing situations and what do we hold on to? Therapeutic writing offers us an opportunity to be more mindful and gain insight which can help building resilience, feeling more confident and making more empowered decisions.
Our guest, Charmaine Pollard, is a counsellor and one of the handful Certified Poetry Therapists in the UK. She has facilitated poetry therapy groups and therapeutic writing workshops in a wide variety of settings, including schools, libraries and prisons.
In this workshop, we will:
- discover the benefits of therapeutic writing and how can we use it to process feelings that are sometimes difficult to talk about;
- learn different creative tools to get us writing even if we have no prior knowledge or experience;
- learn how to use poetry and self-reflective writing to build our resilience toolkit;
- share, reflect and experiment with words in a safe and supportive environment, gaining the confidence to use this great therapeutic tool beyond the workshop, anytime we feel the need to.
*Please bring paper and something to write with. No experience needed: you simply need to be willing to write!
This free session will take place online, so make sure you have a laptop, phone or tablet with a good internet connection.
