Come and experience a first in bringing spoken word and South Asian dance together in a joint open-mic and stage event. In partnership with Apples & Snakes, Akademi entwines renowned spoken word artists Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan ‘The Brown Hijabi’, Jaspreet Kaur ‘Behind the Netra’ and Azan with the work of dance artists in energising new collaborations. A mash up of artistic languages to express the rich, tangled conflux of multi-cultural identities. Featuring movement from Kathak dancer Meera Patel and Bharatanatyam dancer Shree Savani.
This event includes an open mic slots for both spoken word and dance scratch/improv. To be included, sign up on the door.
