Mythical (maybe?) creatures, out-of-this-world stories passed down from parents to children – inspiring us to seek alternative lives and futures? Queer people have historically grappled with the limits of imagination and pushed (against) the boundaries of the normative. Because, isn’t that what the hero in a fairytale always does?
This exhibition showcases work inspired by tales and myths from around the world – from the UK and Romani culture to Armenia and Southeast Asia, drawing inspiration from tales dating back to pre-colonial times. Our turn toward folklore is part of a tradition of reclaiming narratives imposed on us.
Please note: This event is for ages 5+ only.
