This October, Tongues on Fire CIO, the producer of the UK Asian Film Festival (UKAFF), proudly announces the first edition of Unspoken – A Mental Health Film Festival.
The films in this year’s line-up explore the hidden struggles that shape our emotional worlds — the unvoiced tensions within families, communities, and faith. Dil Dhadakne Docaptures the fragility beneath a family’s glittering façade, where silence around love, duty, and identity keep wounds unhealed. The Single Tumbler reflects on the haunting legacy of war in Sri Lanka, unearthing difficult truths about memory, complicity, and belonging. In Zindagi Tamasha, a single dance sparks public outrage, laying bare the crushing weight of judgment in a conservative society.
Together, these films ask: what happens when silence breaks — and who has the courage to listen?
Unspoken is presented in association with leading mental health organisations Centre for Applied Research and Innovation in Mental Health (CARIEF) and the Psychiatry Research Trust (PRT), a charity dedicated to research and education in mental health.
Tongues on Fire is a charity organisation founded in 1997. They produce the annual UK Asian Film Festival, celebrating the richness and vibrancy of South Asian culture, history, arts, storytelling, and self-expression.
