Viva Viva Palestina – the hope and the horror is an effort in the shared fight to end all forms of state sponsored violence, oppression and exploitation.
We know the horror of what has been happening, which is so often distorted or dismissed by the media.
Horror and hope fill our eyes, our ears and our mouths, and here we have a space to express our outrage using images, words, sounds and bodies and to use our creative strength in solidarity with the Palestinian people, as well as all people across the world who are struggling for equality and justice. We walk in struggle with our Palestinian siblings.
Viva Viva Palestina events:
Fri 15 Nov, 7pm – 9pm: Private Viewing
Thu 21 Nov, 7.30pm: Palestine, art and hope – workshop, discussion and debate event
While Kurtz’s last words in Conrad’s Heart of Darkness were ‘The horror! The horror!’, the Viva Viva Palestina exhibition’s subtitle includes the word ‘hope’ alongside the horror.
Join us for a discussion in which artists in the exhibition will be invited to explore what the inclusion of hope might mean in the context of the horrors taking place in Palestine, in an exhibition where art meets activism. The discussion will be facilitated by Guy Shennan, who is embarking on research focusing on hope and the future in Palestine-related activism.
All are welcome.
Sun 24 Nov, 12pm – 10pm: Moving for Palestine all-day programme.
A day of movement and dance workshops programmed by the Viva Viva Palestina Collective. Featuring participatory and therapeutic dance workshops, dabke classes, and an evening of performance and music, Moving for Palestine is an unmissable chance to come together to process and create.
Charities supported by Viva Viva Palestina:
Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC)
The PSC is the UK’s largest grassroots organisation dedicated to advocating for Palestinian human rights and justice. The PSC unites people from all backgrounds to challenge corporate profiteering, government complicity, and biassed media to push for justice, equality, and an end to the occupation of Palestine. United by a commitment to equality and justice, the PSC is building a mass movement to champion Palestinian rights and freedom across the UK.
Camden Abu Dis Friendship Association (CADFA)
CADFA promotes awareness of Palestinian human rights in the UK, building connections since 2003 between Camden and Abu Dis, a town near Jerusalem affected by the Israeli Separation Wall. Formed in response to human rights violations identified by the International Court of Justice, CADFA became a charity in 2005. Through publications, events, creative projects, and exchange visits, CADFA brings Palestinian voices to UK audiences, fostering understanding and encouraging advocacy for Palestinian rights, as the situation in Palestine remains critical.
