We're proud to introduce the 15 wonderful young people, aged 16-23, who make up our new Youth Board!
The Youth Board will meet four times a year and will be a new voice in informing our programme – offering a fresh perspective, supporting our core values and holding us accountable through the lens of a young London. They will also be supporting our mission as a community cultural hub that nurtures and develops young creatives, ensuring we’re meeting the needs of young people and the wider community in the boroughs of East London.
Trustees will meet with our Youth Board through the year to share updates on their work and progress, working together to help Rich Mix create and curate film, music and participatory programmes that audiences, creatives and our communities love.
We’re passionate about listening to and reflecting the voices of young people in our programmes and events and can’t wait for the Youth Board to get started!
Meet the Youth Board
ANGELINA
As a young artist on the New Creatives programme, I’ve learnt so many vital things along the way, but I would also love to expand my knowledge and create a constructive impact within my generation.
AYANNA
I would like to be apart of the youth board as I am passionate about music and media as a whole, and enjoy expressing this in many ways.
CHEYNI
I want to be a member of the board to help get young people like me get their ideas across and heard.
DARIA
I attend a lot of concerts and know how crucial audience experience is to enjoying and engaging with events.
DEMI
I want to give back to the younger generation and let the youth speak up – it’s important to hear what they have to say.
EMILIA
I want to help provide more opportunities for young creatives – making sure that there is a place they can express themselves and thrive in the community.
EZRA
I love event planning and anything linked to making people’s experiences more meaningful – being involved in creating that magic is going to be awesome.
JOSHUA
As someone who was part of Rich Mix New Creatives and had the chance to run a sold out live music event in the Rich Mix space, it’s a privilege to add to the great work Rich Mix do for young people, adults and creatives alike, and to be apart of a youth board that helps Rich Mix continuously grow and thrive.
KIYA
I see creativity as an expression of self and a fundamental way of giving a voice to young people – and I’d like to have a role in making a creative impact.
LA-TAJAH
I am passionate about ensuring that creatives not only have access to facilities and places where they are able to thrive, but also have the chance to learn about the creative industry.
LARA
I feel really strongly about changing the music scene, especially for young independent artists like myself who know how hard it is to publish and promote your own music.
LOGAN
I want to be a youth ambassador because I want to get into more of the music industry and I want to help as much as I can.
MUNA
As someone who’s interested in creating events, I want to help connect people to the right spaces that centre and celebrate them.
SABRIYA
I believe that we are the next generation and we deserve to be heard – it’s great that the Youth Board gives us the opportunity to use our voice.
VALENTINA
I want to be part of the board because I really admire Rich Mix as a cultural institution in East London. I am excited to be able to participate and shape this creative space that influences so many young people.
