Christopher Nolan and Cillian Murphy drop the atom-bomb, Barbie goes to the real world, Tom Cruise does Tom Cruise things, and Harrison Ford reprises his iconic role of Indiana Jones. If that wasn’t enough, we are hosting the International Animal Future Film Festival, which focuses on the profound connection between humans and animals through the medium of film.

Now showing in our cinemas is Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, the definitive climax of the franchise. Harrison Ford (Star Wars, Blade Runner) reprises his iconic role of Jones, now, an elderly curmudgeon welcoming retirement, before his enthusiastic goddaughter Helena Shaw (played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge: Fleabag, Solo: A Star Wars Story) comes to him with news of an artefact so powerful it would make its wielder a God amongst men. Reluctantly recruited into a new dangerous mission, Jones must go to places never travelled before in an effort to save the world from some familiar foes. Featuring Mads Mikkelsen (Another Round, The Hunt) and Antonio Banderas (Puss in Boots, The Skin I Live In), Dial of Destiny does not disappoint with its epic set-pieces, charm, and unrealistic expectations about what a career in archaeology entails. Check out this fantastic review from Empire, and watch the adventurous trailer for Dial of Destiny here!

From Mon 10 Jul, Tom Cruise (Top Gun, Eyes Wide Shut) reprises his role as Ethan Hunt with Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One, the latest instalment of the thrilling franchise. Hunt, along with his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: to track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens all of humanity before it falls into the wrong hands. Since Christopher McQuarrie took over as director for Rogue Nation (2017), the series has received universal acclaim, and with some of the most daring stunts of the series, Dead Reckoning Part One (just like Tom Cruise) shows no signs of slowing down. Just remember – everything you see really happened. Read one of the early reviews from GQ, labelling it as the ‘best Mission yet’, and watch the thrilling Mission Impossible trailer!

From Fri 21 Jul we will be screening not one but two new films, with the long-awaited arrival of the unlikely duo of 2023: Barbie and Oppenheimer, creating the much-debated Barbenheimer cinema event of the summer. Which movie will you be seeing first? This Insider gives some hints here on how to plan a cinema marathon day this summer.

First up, Barbie marks Greta Gerwig’s return to the director’s chair since the critically acclaimed Lady Bird and Little Women, with Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) starring as the titular doll. Barbie and Ken (Ryan Gosling: La La Land, Blade Runner 2049) are having the time of their lives in the colourful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans. Featuring a stunning pastel/pink aesthetic, an all-star cast, and a new Dua Lipa hit, this fantasy comedy is sure to be one of the most talked about films of the year. Joining us on the same day is Oppenheimer, the biographical thriller about the father of the atom bomb from visionary director Christopher Nolan (Inception, The Dark Knight), based on the 2005 biography American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. Cillian Murphy (Peaky Blinders, Dunkirk) leads an all-star cast including Emily Blunt (A Quiet Place, The Devil Wears Prada), Matt Damon (Good Will Hunting, Interstellar) and Florence Pugh (Midsommar, Don’t Worry Darling). Along with his reputation for massive-scale epics that are best seen on the big screen, Nolan is also known for exclusively using practical effects, and in the case of this film, that includes the detonation of the bomb. A deep-dive about a man who changed the course of history, Oppenheimer is not one to miss.
