We’re bringing artists and audiences together to connect and collaborate, witnessing the beautiful accidents that unfold in the live moment.

In May, Rich Mix New Creatives alum Abel Berhan presents a new photography exhibition exploring themes of Black masculinity with Between the World & Me, take a journey through Brazilian and Latin American roots rhythms with Kirá (son of Manu Chao) and East London’s favourite salon-style scratch night returns with Stuck in the Lift: Underground. Plus, experience the incredible queer alternative to traditional henna nights – The Hen-Nah Party.

As we move into June, Urdu English singer songwriter Samia Malik launches her new album at Songs to Heal and Empower, Salaam and Funk and Chill Mill DJs share their experiences of social change through creative expression at Artivism – Creative Voices for Social Change and Sufi Soup present How to Make Rice – an exploration of the Bengal Famine through theatre, poetry and the rituals of making rice.

Earlier this season:

Nazar brought us their first ever club night and awards ceremony for the SWANA and South Asian queer community. London Short Film Festival celebrated 20 years of radical short films, immersive events, live music and creative collaboration, alongside an events and industry programme (and dance party!) co-presented by T A P E Collective.

Certain Blacks returned with a ninth edition of Heroes Festival, where circus, jazz, grime and stand-up fuse together, culminating in an evening of blues performances, readings and conversations with Art Ensemble of Chicago contributor L. T. Beauchamp. Plus, we took a journey back to the Noughties to explore the Asian Underground and Conscious Clubbing scene first hand, with the reunion of funk fusion band Salaam and Funk joined by Krupa43two with members of Transglobal Underground.

We welcomed back Arab Women Artists Now Festival – showcasing the best of global Arab women artists – and enjoyed a vibrant evening of club classics and modern sounds courtesy of The Midnight Train. Tongue Fu returned for another round of poems, stories, and serendipitous musical mayhem, clashing extraordinary musicians and spoken word artists on stage together.

Next up was an evening of fabulous live acts, drag, and DJs with Sounds Queer and join us for an evening of inspirational music, soundscapes and spoken word from stars of the future at the Irene Taylor Trust and Drake Music Emerging Artists Showcase. DON’T SLEEP ON US and Freedom & Balance returned with games, music and good conversation for another edition of SANDCASTLES. And London’s hottest Latin music festival, La Linea came back with a stellar line-up ,including award-winning fadista Duarte, South American folklore and electronica with Alex Etchart and Chilean and South American political song with Group Luma.
