Contra is a publication that explores the relationship between visual culture and conflict. Each thematic edition focuses on different interactions between these fields. The first issue, titled Displacement, explored the visual response to current and past migrations. The second issue, released here, is themed around Protest.

Join Contra for an evening of drinks and music to celebrate the launch of issue 02 and a chance to pick up a copy of the magazine at first release! The evening will be exhibiting relevant artists’ work, including prints by leading British political artist Peter Kennard, photographer Tom Jamieson and Russian graphic artist Victoria Lomasko.

Exiled Writers Ink, who bring together writers from repressive regimes and war-torn regions and provide a space for their words to be heard, will present a short recital by three poets, Edin Suljic, Fatima Hagi and Amir Darwish.

You can purchase a copy of Contra issue 02: Protest, along with your ticket. Click BOOK NOW to see ticket options.

The Art Newspaper
I was really impressed by the way Contra drills down into the issues it covers and looks at them from a human perspective, resulting in content that has a real resonance.
