The Deaf Eyes project taught artistic techniques to deaf people to help them record memories and reflections. Engaging with deaf peers who use sign language, they each developed coloured, cord-wrapped wire sculptures of hands, culminating in an ever-changing collective sculpture as it was added to throughout the course of the project. The process was recorded with a series of organic photographs and videos.

In addition to viewing the exhibition, you are warmly invited to create your own hand sculptures at a drop-in session. These sculptures will be ‘planted’ in customised plant boxes on the window sills for passers-by to enjoy.

The workshops take place from 2pm – 5pm on:
Thu 26 Sep
Fri 27 Sep
Sun 29 Sep

These sessions are suitable for any age, but children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

Deaf Unity founded this project, supported by the National Lottery’s Community Fund. Martin Glover, specialist Art Facilitator, was commissioned to realise and deliver Deaf Eyes.
