Packed with exercises, talk, discussion, and telling stories, this 2-day practical workshop looks at the shaping and construction of stories using Indo-European wonder tales (fairytales) as a starting point.
In particular it will explore how spoken, improvised language functions within a narrative, and will introduce key compositional tools design to bring out the emotional life of a story.
Ben Haggarty is a world class performance storyteller and a much sought after trainer and director. For over 30 years he has pioneered the re-visioning of storytelling as a contemporary performance art.
He is director of the legendary Crick Crack Club, and Honorary Professor of Storytelling at the Arts University of Berlin.
Ben’s understanding of orality and the spoken word (as differentiated from writing and the recited word), metaphor, magic and the dramaturgy of performance storytelling is unsurpassed.
