This autumn, as part of our new programme Rich Mix Resonates, we’ll be working with long-standing partners Mwalimu Express to provide inclusive, intergenerational spaces for older and/or isolated members of the community.
Mwalimu Express is London’s original African adventure of live music, games, and food. Together, we will be cooking up a series of games, music and art workshops leading up to Mwalimu Express events in October, November and December. The workshops will look at some key themes:
Play – Seth and the Oware Society will lead workshops exploring Oware game, the oldest board game in the world. It is a compelling game of numbers and strategy – learn to play or hone your skills.
Music – Mwalimu Express DJ Rita will explore musical connections from an African perspective leading to a soundscape of songs, memories, and new connections. Listen, chat and enjoy.
Art – Get involved in painting sessions with exciting artists, in collaboration with the Rich Mix team.
Participants are welcome to come along on their own, or as part of a group. All sessions are open to befrienders, friends or family of those who are taking part.
