Spitalfields Music is committed to supporting composers and musicians from communities who are under-represented in the musical world.

Each year, through our Open Call programme, we select three composers and provide mentoring, training and performance opportunities, which culminate in this showcase.

Lola De La Mata explores hidden voices and gendering of Artificial Intelligence and has worked with members of the public who are Trans and non-binary to devise the work.

Anna Pool’s piece examines the transformative power of faith on people and place, both through the impact that faith communities have had on Spitalfields itself, and the personal faith journeys of individuals from East London and beyond.

Chisara Agor presents an installation to explore the philosophical concept of ‘metaxy’ through the idea of being/feeling seen and unseen, how this can transform and how we can experience this through sound and art.

The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session. Spitalfields Music thank Help Musicians UK for their magnificent support of Open Call and musicians everywhere.
