Programme of events:
12-5pm: Community Canvas
Help create a communal painting of the day! Add broad strokes or little ones, splashes of colour, words or figures – this canvas is for all and will be a community creation!
12-3pm: Our Journeys Storytent
Come and experience the Our Journeys StoryTent – a tent made collectively by local parents stitching together their rich and varied individual journeys of migration to Tower Hamlets.
What is your story? Climb inside for a chance to share your journey to Tower Hamlets inspired by what you’ve seen on the tent. Suitable for ages 2+
12-3pm: Bookswap
Come along with your pre-loved books and swap them for a brand-new adventure at this special free event.
As enthusiastic book lovers, we will be on hand to help you choose books for and with your children! Even if you don’t have any to swap, you are still welcome to attend and pick up some new stories. Suitable for ages 2+
2-3.30pm: Mr Gee presents Identity of East London Poetry Workshop
Fancy yourself a poet? A lyricist? Or simply someone that has always had a fondness for an interesting turn of phrase? Join award-winning poet Mr Gee as he shares some of the insights into his verses and love of the spoken word.
He will also encourage you to tap into your creative side and explore the words that you write – focusing on themes of time, place and the personality of East London. Suitable for ages 10+.
5-7pm: Rich Mix New Creatives Stage Takeover
The members of Rich Mix New Creatives, a programme for 16-25 year olds interested in the creative industries, take to the stage! Expect singers, rappers, poets, an open-mic, DJs and more! Don’t miss the freshest up-and-coming East London talent.
Hosted by La Tajah and featuring: DJ Pebz, Sura, Shania, Ibrahim, Charyze, A Miks, Jago and Jordan.
