Orion Isaacs has interviewed Jewish families across London and Manchester, who have a connection to the world of boxing, either first hand or through a family member.
Alongside family archives, Isaacs will launch their own photographic series and short film in collaboration with Sweatmother. The visual series places Isaacs’ own journey as a queer and trans artist (and boxer) in conversation with the lost Jewish boxing archive to create an exhibition that is both intimate and impactful.
Passing Gloves was initially conceived as an immersive exhibition experience for The Mix space upstairs. Due to popular demand, we have decided to extend a reduced run of the exhibition in our gallery space. This hopes that wider audiences will learn about these incredible lost histories.
